Research How to advance in vivo bioprinting

Combining bioinks and robotics

In vivo bioprinting is an emerging technology that aims at immediate integration of engineered tissues within a biological system. The team of Jun.-Prof. Daniela Duarte Campos reviewed current trends in bioinks and robotics, which are key components of modern bioprinting technologies. Both bioinks and robotics should be complement each other, that is, the bioink has to be adapted to the fabrication method and vice versa, bioprinting tools should be designed to accommodate the properties of the bioink. This article discusses current strategies and challenges in both fields to approach merging these technologies.
