Public lecture series [Bio(R)Evolution] #2
Bio(R)evolution: new Faces, new Ideas, new Horizons
The Faculty of Biosciences is delighted to announce the 2nd edition of the Bio(R)evolution lecture event, featuring Prof. Dr. Nora Vögtle and Prof. Dr. Lazaro Centanin. This special occasion will take place on November 18th, 2024, at 18:00 in the Bertalanffy Lecture Hall of the Center for Organismal Studies, Im Neuenheimer Feld 230, Heidelberg.
Entitled "Protein Quality Control Meets Developmental Biology," this event will showcase the pioneering research and forward-thinking visions of Professors Vögtle and Centanin, emphasising the intersections of cellular health and development reshaping modern biosciences.
With this series, we want to introduce the newly appointed professors of our faculty to the academic community. On this occasion, our new colleagues will present their achievements to date, ongoing projects and the potential societal impact of their work. The presentations will highlight the relevance of basic research at Heidelberg University for addressing major societal challenges potentially linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The target audience includes faculty members, students, researchers and the general public interested in life sciences. The lecture format typically includes two presentations of 20-25 minutes each by the newly appointed professor, followed by a moderated discussion on the societal impact of their research. The event concludes with a small reception.
